  • Job Description

    This position is an opportunity to partner with clients across the country to provide affordable housing for those in need. Compliance Specialists work with affordable housing partners across the country, providing review and approval of affordable housing documentation for various national, state, and local programs.     Primary Responsibilities
    Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

    1. Certification Review – Review and approve or provide correction requests related to resident certifications submitted by affordable housing property management staff. Serve as first point of contact to our customers by communicating with property managers or other management personnel via telephone and/or email. Provide training and guidance to customers as needed.

    2. Communication – Provide thorough written communication to follow up on compliance deficiencies. Ensure important information is relayed to the customer in the time frames outlined; convey understanding of the comments and questions of others by listening effectively; use verbal skills to support customers as previously listed; speak and conduct oneself with internal and external customers in mind.

    Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    1. Must have affordable on-site experience or affordable housing compliance experience.

    2. Attention to detail, time management, and decision-making skills are among the most important traits a Compliance Specialist must have to be successful in this position.

    3. A Compliance Specialist must demonstrate flexibility and a sense of urgency.

    4. In addition to these general skills, a Compliance Specialist is expected to have at least 2 years of experience in affordable housing compliance or affordable property management.

    5. They should also have a working knowledge of the requirements of the LIHTC, RD and HUD programs.

    This position is an opportunity to escape the mundane, repetitive duties of a traditional asset manager. While some of the responsibilities are similar, the Asset Manager position is centrally focused on providing exceptional customer service while partnering with our customers to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance. The position allows for and requires for full-time travel through the United States. This position comes fully equipped with tools and resources that will allow success.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Conduct inspections of affordable housing units to ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and quality standards.

    2. Evaluate safety, sanitation, and habitability of properties.

    3. Collaborate with property owners, tenants, and government agencies.

    4. Document findings accurately and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

    5. Assist in resolving tenant complaints related to housing conditions.

    6. Stay informed about changes in housing laws and regulations.

    Qualifications:

    1. Previous experience as a housing inspector or related field.

    2. Knowledge of affordable housing programs and regulations.

    3. Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

    4. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

    5. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

    Other Details:

    1. Extensive travel experience preferred.

    2. 50% travel required.

    6. Knowledge of accessibility law and guidelines a plus
